Rhinos players show support for 2019 Leeds Big Sleep

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is pleased to announce that players from the Leeds Rhinos first team squad will be supporting the 2019 Leeds Big Sleep on Thursday 28th November at Emerald Headingley Stadium.

The annual sleepout with St George’s Crypt and St Gemma’s Hospice, which won the Fundraising Partnership of the Year Award at the 2019 Institute of Fundraising (IoF) Yorkshire Awards, helps to raise vital funds for some of our city’s most vulnerable people.

Players from Leeds Rhinos will be supporting the volunteers from Leeds Rhinos Foundation, including Chief Operating Officer Bob Bowman and Acquisition Marketing Manager Michelle Cooper, as well as members of the public, to raise money for vulnerable communities whilst also highlighting the plight of homeless people in Leeds.

Last year’s event managed to raise a fantastic £32,000 for the three charities, and this year they are looking to beat that total, with record numbers already signed up and ready to swap their beds for a night under the stars on the terraces of Emerald Headingley Stadium.

Richard Agar, Head Coach of Leeds Rhinos, said: “This is an amazing cause which the team are happy to support. With the temperatures beginning to drop as we approach winter, I know it will be a challenging night for all the volunteers, but we also know these are the conditions that many people across the country face each night and hopefully the money raised will help St George’s Crypt in their efforts to tackle this issue.”

“Our own charity Leeds Rhinos Foundation does some fantastic work to support people in our community through their health, education and sports projects and they are making a positive impact on people’s lives.

“St Gemma’s Hospice is a fantastic charity that means so much to the people of Leeds. They have supported so many people and families going through the most difficult of times. We are proud that money raised from this event will also go to funding their organisation.”
