VOLUNTEER

We deliver a wide range of projects under our five principles of Education, Health, Sport, Art and Heritage. Sport is an engaging tool that allows our staff to connect with a whole range of individuals throughout our local community, delivering important lifestyle messages to inspire others to make positive changes to their own lives.

As the official charity of Leeds Rhinos, we work alongside community organisations, primary and secondary schools, community rugby league clubs and other charitable organisations to change lives through sport. We run holiday camps, rugby festivals, community days, health and education projects year-round to engage with both children and adults from all over Leeds and the local region.

As a registered Charity, we rely on the generous support and donations of individuals, trusts & businesses to fund these projects and enable us to continue our work to make a positive difference in the community.

Many of these projects also rely on a team of dedicated and committed volunteers, which means there are also plenty of opportunities for new volunteers to join our team!

Volunteering is a brilliant way of gaining experience and making a positive contribution to society. It is also rewarding to help the local community whilst developing transferable skills for your career.

BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING

Individuals who volunteer gain confidence, learn new skills, and develop a real sense of belonging to their communities, whilst helping to improve the quality of life for local people.

Corporate volunteer programs are reported to drive employee engagement. Companies that promote active volunteer programs enjoy greater employee satisfaction, higher morale and, as a result, this can lead to greater productivity and profitability.

Charities benefit by utilising the skills, enthusiasm, and time of a diverse volunteer workforce, helping them to carry out their work in the community.

EVENTS AND FUNDRAISING

The success of our planned events and fundraising programme for 2021 will rely on the support from a dedicated team of volunteers.

Every year, we run a number of fantastic marquee fundraising events, ranging from our Run With The Rhinos team at the Leeds 10k to our Grand Raffle Draw and annual Gala Fundraising Dinner held at Emerald Headingley Stadium.

There are many ways in which volunteers can help us to successfully plan and execute our events, such as:

  • Supporting with the set-up and take-down of any equipment or merchandising.
  • Registering participants on arrival
  • Cheering on participants
  • Logistics and programming
  • Helping our media team to capture the events on our social channels
  • Co-ordinating with other volunteers

HEALTH PROJECTS

We deliver a diverse programme of health and wellbeing projects in the community and there are always plenty of opportunities for individuals to volunteer and get involved with these projects.

Whether it’s helping to provide refreshments at our In Touch dementia support group or Sporting Memories club for older adults to socialise while reliving their favourite memories of sport, or setting up the physical activity workshops at our Try Club men’s weight-management programme, your support will make a real difference and help us provide the best possible experience for the people we work with.
