MOTIVATE- Moving Together with Inflammatory Arthritis

MOTIVATE is a safe, fun and exciting 12-week nutrition and physical activity programme for those living with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Working in partnership with The Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and supported by Leeds Cares, the free programme offers you the chance to make small healthy changes through tailored physical activity and nutrition sessions each week.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) affects around 1% of the population. In addition to joint damage, RA increases their risk for heart disease and weakens their muscles. Appropriate nutrition and exercise may help reduce these side-effects of RA and also improve joint function. However, in a recent survey of RA patients, 52% of patients did not participate in any sports or exercise and 58% wanted to exercise more.

Therefore, the MOTIVATE programme aims to provide people with opportunities to get active and engage in exercise in a safe and friendly environment, with sessions taking place weekly in venues across Leeds.
