Chev Walker to join the Coach Education programme for 2018

Leeds Rhinos Foundation

Relaunching for 2018 this February, Coach Education’s team of coaching professionals who will be providing workshops this year will include former Rhinos, Hull KR and Bradford centre Chev Walker

Now Head of Player Production for Leeds Rhinos, Walker who re-joined the club in 2017 will support Programme leader Barry Eaton throughout the year while also taking part in the programme’s launch event on the 9th February.

Walker, who was a Grand Final winner with the Rhinos in 2004, will join Jason Davidson, Barry Eaton and staff from Leeds Rhinos Foundation to provide an insight into talent ID and player development at the club before taking part in a Q+A with coaches in attendance.

“I’m really looking forward to being part of Coach Education this year,” said Walker.

“The programme is a fantastic initiative for the community game where coaches can come and learn and gain insight into some of the best practice for coaching and developing rugby league players.

As well as taking part in the launch night, Chev will be supporting the programme throughout the year which will once again include workshops on strength and conditioning, primary rugby league coaching, position specific workshops as well as on the road.

“You never stop learning as a coach, whether you have been in the game for a while or are just starting out, and Coach Education is a great opportunity for coaches to share ideas, upskill and importantly look at different areas of rugby league development, so I hope we can work with lots of coaches in 2018.”

The evening, taking place at Leeds Rugby Academy from 7pm, is open to all coaches from the rugby league community who will be registered onto the programme for the year for full access to workshops delivered by Rhinos first team coaches, players and coaching staff from Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

Coach Education is part of Leeds Rhinos Foundation's Rugby League Development Plan supported by Mears to improve standards and participation in rugby league across the city.
