BBC Children in Need has awarded Leeds Rugby Foundation a grant of £45,900 to deliver its "We are Rhinos" project.

The “We are Rhinos” project will deliver physical activities to 400 disadvantaged young people from 20 primary schools in Leeds. These after school activities will be chosen by the young people to ensure they are user led and meet the needs of the individual.  This will help improve confidence and self-esteem, encourage a healthier lifestyle and better engage the young people into their community.

Leeds Rugby Foundation is Leeds Rhinos official charity that delivers projects in the heart of the community. They harness the power of sport to make a lasting, positive impact on individuals' lives. As Leeds Rugby's charity they aim to truly change lives through sport.

Davide Longo, Partnership Manager at Leeds Rugby Foundation, Davide Longo is thrilled at the news, he said.

“BBC Children in Need is a fantastic charity and Leeds Rugby Foundation is delighted to be awarded a grant in support of our excellent work in the communities of Leeds. This grant will go towards helping children and families by providing activities that are out of school hours.”
Elizabeth Myers, BBC Children in Need Regional Manager for the North said: “We are delighted to award funding to Leeds Rugby Foundation to support their work with young people in Leeds. These grants are only made possible thanks to the incredible support we get from fundraisers each year.  Organisations working with children and young people in Leeds who would like to apply for funding in future rounds should visit the grants section on our website to find out more about our grant programmes.”

BBC Children in Need relies on the support and creativity of thousands of fundraisers and supporters across the UK who donate their time, money and energy to help raise millions for the Charity. Every penny of the money raised is distributed through BBC Children in Need’s main and small grants programme.
