Leeds Rugby Foundation to host Primary Schools’ Rugby League World Cup Event

Fresh from being named Foundation of the year, Leeds Rugby Foundation are to host a Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) themed Tag Rugby Festival at Headingley Carnegie Stadium next Wednesday 9th October.

With RLWC fast approaching each of the 14 Primary Schools will represent a country of RLWC as part of an action-packed, fun-filled day ran by Leeds Rugby Foundation.

Not only will there be a tag rugby league festival for close to 200 children, aged 9 to 11, but each school will give a presentation on the culture and rugby league heritage of their playing nation.

The event will conclude with a presentation on the Headingley Carnegie field.

Leeds Rugby Foundation Primary Schools Development Officer Tony Aubrey commented: "Next Wednesday's event is the culmination of a series of coaching sessions in Primary School's from across Leeds.

"And with the World Cup virtually upon us, this will be a fantastic event to not only involve these children in Rugby League, but to give them the opportunity to learn and present about the history and culture of a particular nation that will compete in RLWC.

"As well as that, they get the unique chance to step foot on the famous Headingley Carnegie turf. It should be a memorable day that will hopefully raise the profile of RLWC in Leeds."
