James Simpson MBE Visits Rainbow Dementia Day Care Group at AMT Headingley Stadium

Wheelchair Head Coach and ex player, James Simpson MBE, provided a special experience for attendees in an engaging presentation and question and answer session about his life and Wheelchair Rugby League career.

The group delved into James’ victory in the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup in 2022 and his plans to coach the Rhinos to victory in 2024.

The Rainbow Care Group provides dementia day care services across North and West Yorkshire including specialist sports service day care groups. Through their services they encourage social interaction, whilst providing cognitive stimulation through meaningful activities. Their mission is to promote dignity and independence whilst striving to provide individualised, person-centered care.

Each Wednesday, Rainbow Dementia Day Care provide this specialist, sports-focused provision from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Community Hub, with participants engaging in activities and conversations with fellow sport enthusiasts, whilst being invited to attend a Leeds Rhinos home match to relive their Rugby League memories.

Rainbow Group are hosting a stall in the South Stand Concourse for this matchday, where they are hosting sports focused interactive activities including a virtual reality experience, which provides an insight to the engaging and thoughtful days which are provided by the service.
