First Netball Residential Camp proves huge success

Earlier this month, Leeds Rhinos Netball joined forces with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Woodhouse Grove School to deliver the first Leeds Rhinos Residential Camp.

The camp was for aspiring players in school years 7, 8, 9 and 10 and was held at Woodhouse Grove from Monday 7th August until Thursday 10th August.

Players had to opportunity to be guided by our highly qualified coaches, through four days of skill development, footwork patterns, technical skills, strength and conditioning, and of course match play. With the inclusion of a World Cup themed tournament against one another to showcase your skills and teamwork.

Attendees also had access to position-specific workshops to further their game understanding using technical tips from the coaching team. We were honoured to be joined by Leeds Rhinos Netball player, Amy Braithwaite, who led her own workshop and took part in a Q and A, a chance for the future generation of the game to ask everything they need to know.

As well as on court activities, players were also provided with specialist led workshops off the court to cover health and well being, goal setting, teambuilding, nutrition and video analysis.

At the end of the 3 days, all players and their parents and guardians were invited to join us for our presentation, which celebrated the success and achievements of all who attended.

Head of Community and Engagement, Gareth Cook, said: “We are delighted with how successful our first Netball Residential Camp was and were so impressed by each and every player that came along!”

“The main aim of this camp was to provide an opportunity for aspiring netball players to not only learn new skills, but develop their confidence in both their game play, and within themselves, and I think this residential achieved just that”

“We would like to say a massive thank you to our staff and coaches who did an amazing job in making this residential a resounding success, and a massive well done to all of the players!”
