Children’s Day 2014 fast approaching

A reminder to all fans that the annual Children’s Day event will take place at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Sunday 27th July.

Children's Day is an annual event held across the cricket and rugby grounds at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Its origins date as far back as 1922 when tens of thousands of people would flock to Soldiers' Field at Roundhay Park to enjoy the day. In 1946, just after the Second World War, it was reported that 96,000 people attended.

In 2012 the day was delivered by the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation and Leeds Rugby Foundation with support from the Garry Chappelow Memorial Fund, Leeds City Council, Leeds United Foundation and West Yorkshire Police who also use the event to deliver their open day.

Last month, the Leeds Rugby Foundation and Yorkshire Cricket Foundation announced this year's Children's Day will encompass a number of activities and stalls.

These include: Zumba, martial arts, badminton, wheelchair rugby, bubble football, handball, Tropical World, Rhinestones, hockey, speed gun challenge, archery and Go Ape!

Exclusive to Children’s Day 2014 will be the rugby multi-skills zone which will offer children an insight into some core rugby league skills. A big thanks to partners Pims for purchasing this on behalf of LRF.

You can also watch local rugby, football and cricket clubs playing in a tournament as well as much, much more! With live music throughout the day from local musicians as well as the chance to experience a ‘Crime Scene’ with West Yorkshire Police you don’t want to miss it!

Plus meet Ronnie the Rhino, Terry the Terrier, Vinny the Viking and Lucas the Kop Cat and watch them battle it out against other local mascots in the fantastic annual Mascot Race!

The gates open at 10:30am and close at 3pm; Admission is completely FREE for everyone, as are the activities when inside the ground. So bring the family and enjoy a fantastic day at Headingley Stadium with Children's Day, a Leeds summer event accessible to all!
