Once again Leeds and Hunslet schools came together to show off an unbelievably high standard at the emerging 9’s competitions held at a range of schools right across the city.
The rallies are designed to allow both experienced and developing players the opportunity to get as much ball in hand as possible and really show off their attacking flare and ingenuity.
Special thanks must go to Fulneck, Priesthorpe, Bruntcliffe, Lawnswood and John Smeaton for hosting the tournaments that saw a fantastic array of talent from aspiring young talent.
The most pleasing thing to see was the mix of experienced club players and raw talent from those who were clearly picking up the sport for the first time and can only be picked up by school rugby giving these players the opportunity to discover and showcase their talents.
The results of the tournament are as follows;
Year 7 – Winners Temple Moor
Runners Up Leeds West & Lawnswood
Year 8 – Winners Woodkirk
Runners Up Corpus Christie
Year 9 – Winners South Leeds
Runners Up Carr manor
Year 10 – Winners DYCA
Runners Up Morley
Year 11 – Winners Priesthorpe
Runners Up Woodkirk
The next opportunity to see the brightest talent Leeds & Hunslet schools rugby has to offer is the Leeds & Hunslet Schools Cup finals for Years 7 & 11 at Headingley stadium on Wednesday May 15th with the first game kicking off at 4:30pm.
