Leeds Carnegie Play Off Game

What a fantastic day for Leeds Carnegie on and off the pitch

Leeds Carnegie yesterday secured a massive advantage in their two-leg play-off game against the Newcastle Falcons at the Headingley Carnegie stadium, taking a 5 point advantage with them for the second leg to be played this coming Sunday at Kingston park, the home of the Falcons.

Whilst the Carnegie players shone on the pitch it was all hands on deck for the community department who had organised for 26 teams to take part in exhibition games during the half time interval.

The teams who had travelled in mass to the game had a fantastic day out in the Leeds sunshine and really showed their support for the club during the game. Commenting on the day community manager Adam Blades said ‘what a superb day for all concerned with Leeds Carnegie and the Leeds Rugby Foundation.

To get so many teams from around Yorkshire to travel and watch the game was a huge effort and to organise the half time interval with all the games was a huge ask but one that ran without a hitch.

To see over 300 young rugby players on the pitch during the half time interval was fantastic and to see so many smiling faces playing and also in the crowd watching. It’s great having such a good team of grounds men who enable us to do things like this so a big thank you to Jason Booth and his team and also to the teams of players, parents and coaches who came to support us on the day.’
