Wes the Owl Visits TryZone

Year 6 students from Grimes Dyke School recently had a visit from Wes the Barn Owl to conclude an exciting session on conservation at the Big Lottery funded TryZone at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

The children had taken part in a session on how the modern day activities of intensive farming, tourism and extending road networks has impacted on the habitat of Barn Owls.

They also got the opportunity to dissect and analyse Barn Owl pellets to see what they had had for lunch, as well as handling Wes with the obligatory photo session.

This is another prime example that the Leeds Rugby Foundation is not just focussed on rugby, with arts, culture and environmental issues such as this one featuring heavily.
