Leeds Rhinos Foundation is pleased to announce our confirmed programme of Sky Try Rugby League taster sessions with community clubs across the city this July.
These free taster sessions are open to all boys and girls in school years 1-5 and offer a fantastic opportunity for children who want to try rugby league for the first time to make a gentle introduction to playing with a local team.
Having helped more than 700,000 Key Stage 1 children across the country to enjoy the sport of rugby league in the past 7 years, the ethos of Sky Try is all about having fun, making new friends, meeting Super League stars and trying rugby league within a welcoming community club setting.
After receiving coaching from our Rugby League Development Officers, the children are then invited down to a taster session at their local club in order to give the game a real go and encourage them to start playing rugby outside of school.
The programme has led to new clubs and rising starlets being supported to create community hubs, improve the grassroots game and cultivate the stars of the future.
We’ve seen some fantastic turnouts at our Sky Try taster sessions already this year, with more than 150 boys and girls enjoying the opportunity to come training in a community club environment and experience playing rugby league for the first time as part of a team.
