LRF TV: Rhinos in YOUR School

Leeds Rugby Foundation (LRF) would like to thank all the Leeds based Primary School Head-teachers, teachers and PE Co-ordinators, who attended the Extended Services Extraordinary School Dinner at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on Friday. Have a watch of the great work LRF currently do in schools…

The 2013 Foundation of the Year, LRF, is Leeds Rugby's charity that delivers projects in the heart of the community. Harnessing the power of sport, particularly rugby league and union we aim to make a lasting, positive impact on individuals' lives. As Leeds Rugby's charity we have an amazing opportunity to truly change lives through sport.

The school dinner presentation was hosted by Director of Operations Bob Bowman and featured an inspiring talk by Leeds Rhinos, England RL International and LRF Trustee, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, who talked about his experiences within schools and how children can profit from being housed in the correct environment, surrounded by Rhinos role models.

The dinner also included a 2 course meal and culminated with a short presentation by Partnership Manager Davide Longo, on the way LRF would like to work with schools in the future, whilst complementing the School Ambassador Scheme and School Sport Offer.

There was a hugely positive response from the schools present with many already keen to work with LRF on this exciting new plan which will see a qualified LRF Development Officer work with YOUR school for 12 weeks.

Davide Longo commented on the success of the afternoon: “This offer is part of the 3 Year Plan for Rugby League in Leeds, which aims to get more children involved in our wonderful game. The outcome of our proposal will support Ofsted’s plan for PE in Primary Schools, however using the fantastic Leeds Rhinos brand and Rhinos players we will engage children in a fun and interactive way.”

“I would like to thank everyone who attended Friday’s dinner. There has been a lot of positive responses thus far and I am eagerly awaiting responses from further interested schools.”

Any schools that are interested in taking up this offer and would like to arrange a meeting to discuss further should contact Davide Longo on 07894585466 or email Davide.Longo@leedsrugbyfoundation.org.
