We may all associate Leeds Rhinos legend Keith Senior with that of Rugby League, but last week Senior returned to his youthful days after spending two days with Leeds Rugby Foundation partners Pims Ltd.
Many won't know that Senior was once part of the Youth Training Scheme during his time as a Rugby League player at Sheffield Eagles.
And last week Senior spent two days working with Leeds Rugby Foundation partners Pims Ltd who are a company based in the Hunslet area of Leeds. They have a hand in general repairs, gas work, electrical work and lots more both internally and externally.
In the coming weeks' Senior will pass on the experience he has gained over the years as well as the opportunities available at Pims Ltd to the up and coming stars of the Leeds Rhinos youth system.
Senior commented: “Not everyone is going to make it as a Rugby League player, so they need to start thinking about their future and a trade and this is an ideal opportunity to get youngsters on board with an apprenticeship.
"I started off on the Youth Training Scheme on £29.50 a week, so I know what it is like to do the hard graft and it certainly gives you a realisation about what the real world is like"
Colin Smith, Managing Director of Pims Ltd commented: “We think Leeds Rugby Foundation is a fantastic charity to be involved with. It allows us to give back to the community without actually realising we are doing so.
“Keith’s done a great job. We’ve had some laughs, but at the same time he has done some real work. He’s had the hammer out, he’s knocked some plaster off the walls and I think he certainly now has a fair insight into what we do and what the kids can learn from us.
And posed with the question about employing Keith Senior as a full-time member of the Pims Ltd staff, Colin responded with:
“Absolutely. Just because of the effect he has on the women!
"Joking apart, Keith is a great chap – we would employ him tomorrow!”
