Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and Leeds Rugby Foundation look ahead to Outward Pursuit 2014

Leeds Rugby Foundation and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors are proud to join forces for the fourth year running, to launch the highly successful and hugely inspiring Outward Pursuit Scheme for 2014.

This year's trip will take place in Woolley Edge, Wakefield from 25th August until 29th August and 40 teenagers from Community Clubs in the Leeds and District area will get the chance to experience a host of outdoor activities such as jetty jumping, kayaking, rock climbing, team building exercises, blindfold games, touch rugby and many more.

The programme is organised and run by Leeds Rugby Foundation, but it can only happen due to our generous sponsors Irwin Mitchell LLP and Geoff and Gill Caplan.

The Outward Pursuit aims to help young people realise their true potential through reflecting on and learning from adventurous experiences in the wild. The scheme offers experiences to young people who may not have been offered these opportunities otherwise, in a bid to raise confidence, self-esteem and give them the chance to try something new. The hope is they will be proud of their achievements and will go on to see clearly what they might truly be capable of achieving in life.

The firm were also key in the support of the hugely successful Children's Day last month.

Leeds Rugby Foundation's Sam Horner who oversees the project commented: "It is fantastic that Irwin Mitchell recognises the benefits of the Outward Pursuit project.

"The scheme will take these teenagers out of their comfort zones, develop them as people, but more importantly, change their outlook on life which is exactly what the foundation is all about.

"We are also thankful to Irwin Mitchell for their support of Children's Day 2014 which was a great day for everyone involved."

Peter Morris, Partner at Irwin Mitchell and a Trustee of the Leeds Rugby Foundation said: "We are delighted to be supporting Leeds Rugby Foundation for another year with both Outward Pursuit and the recent success of Children's Day.

"The young people who have taken part in the Outward Pursuit scheme in the past have valued the experience as at some point in the future they will need to decide what job they want to do and when they enter the world of work they will need resilience. The schedule on this course gives them that!

"We are also pleased to continue to offer an industry day to the participants, that we host here at our offices in Leeds city centre during October half term. As well as learning life skills such as managing your money on that day, it is a great opportunity for the group to meet up with the friends they made on the course."
