Year 9 and 10 girls showed their rugby skills for the Carnegie Campion School Qualifiers.

5 year 9 girls’ teams and 3 year 10 girl’s teams took part in the Leeds Local stage of the Carnegie Champion School Qualifiers. Carnegie Champion schools is a national schools Rugby League competition.

The experience in the year groups showed as it there was some structured rugby played.

The year 9’s finished with Royds topping the group in first place with 100% winning record and Mount St Mary following in second place.

Year tens played in longer fixtures but the results were cockburn 2 Bruntcliffe 10, Corpus Christi 6 Bruntcliffe 7, Cockburn 7 Corpus Christi 5. All High scoring games.

Sian Hills Women and girls development officer commented: “It was fantastic to see girls returning to play rugby year after year representing their schools. I wish the best of luck to those schools that have progressed onto the regional stages of the competition”.

Great efforts from all those involved and a huge thank you to the Leeds Rhinos academy players; Jordan Bulwinson, Jake Normanton, Jose Kenga for refereeing the games, .

The following teams competed: Yr 9 Corpus Christi, Roundhay, DYCA, Royds and Mount St Mary, Year 10:Corpus Christi, Bruntcliffe and Cockburn.
