An exciting volunteering opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed individual to join the existing Leeds Rhinos PDRL coaches for the 2025 season.
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation is dedicated to changing lives through the power of sport. We believe in making rugby league accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or background. Our successful Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) programme provides individuals with physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in competitive rugby league.
Competing in the PDRL Premiership, you’ll play a key role in supporting the adult Leeds Rhinos Foundation PDRL programme during the 2025 season.
You’ll be required to lead and support training sessions, promote skill development, encourage players development, and help foster a positive and safe environment where everyone can play.
This volunteer position is ideal for anyone passionate about rugby league, inclusivity in sport, and the local community.
Responsibilities of this role include:
– Coaching and Facilitating Weekly Sessions (Monday evenings 6:30-8pm): Lead or assist weekly training sessions for the PDRL team, focusing on skill development, physical fitness, and teamwork.
– Encourage Inclusive Participation: Ensure all activities are accessible to players with various physical abilities and adapt coaching techniques to individual needs.
– Match Day Support: Attend regional festivals with the team (1 weekend a month during season), offering in game sideline support, and promote fair play.
Desired experience:
– Knowledge or enthusiasm for rugby league.
– Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse abilities.
– Willingness to work alongside existing PDRL coaches, and Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff.
– Confidence in modifying sessions based on participants needs.
– Experience working in sports coaching, especially with disability sports, is advantageous.
– Level 2 in Coaching Rugby League, or a willingness to obtain.
