A fantastic morning at Soccer City, Sunday 13th January 2013 with four teams from the under 11’s and four teams from the under 9’s turned up to play in a touch rugby festival.
The competiting teams all had fun playing games for 10 minutes with each team from their age group. For the under 11’s we had Stanningley A, Stanningley B, Whinmoor and North Leeds Leopards. For the under 9’s we had Stanningley A, Stanningley B, North Leeds Leopards and Beeston.
With all teams playing superb rugby it was a close call when announcing the semi-finals with Stanningley A playing and Whinmoor and Stanningley B playing North Leeds Leopards. For the under 9’s we had Stanningley A playing Whinmoor and Stanningley B playing Beeston for a place in the final.
It all came down to the finals for the under 11’s we had Stanningley A playing North Leeds Leopards for 1st and 2nd place and for the under 9’s we had Beeston playing Stanningley A for 1st and 2nd place. As the finals were played Stanningley A took the lead which led them to victory coming 1st out of the under 11’s. A great game from the under 9’s, going into the last few minutes Beeston put in a tremendous effort to get over the line and won the game which meant they had come first in the under 9’s.
After an eventful morning all the teams gathered for the presentation announcing what place each team had come. Each player was given a certificate for competing in the Touch Rugby Festival on Sunday 13th January 2013.
