Pictured is David Giles junior coach at Sherburn Bears receiving his award for North Yorkshire RFL Volunteer of the year. David was nominated by club secretary Paul Dutson for David’s hard work in planning and implementing a schools programme in the local area.
David visited 5 schools for a few weeks and coached well over 150 children in basic core skills of rugby league . The programme was set up to introduce children to rugby league and to find players for a new under 8s team and also an existing under 9s/10s team.
The programme was a great success as the club has 21 new players down to training ! They are busy training to get ready for there new season.
Sherburn Bears Train on a Wednesday 6pm to 7pm at Eversley Park Sherburn in Elmet there Coaches are qualified and hold up to date crb's.
