Secondment opportunity between Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds Building Society Continues

Oliver Hutchinson

For the fifth year, Leeds Rhinos Foundation is benefitting from the secondment scheme with partners Leeds Building Society.

The partnership has seen Leeds Building Society support the official charity of Leeds Rhinos, by seconding a member of their staff for a twelve-month period.  The opportunity is designed to give employees from Leeds Building Society the opportunity to gain further experiences in different environments, which will push their career forward.

Oliver Hutchinson is the latest member to take part in the scheme. He currently works in the Specialist Complaints department at the Leeds Building Society’s head office; a post he has held for five years. At Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Oliver’s role will primarily see him support the coordination of the charity’s fundraising events throughout the year, such as the Grand Raffle Draw and Run with the Rhinos.

Elsewhere, Oliver has been regularly involved with the education pillar of the charity, using his experience in work and at University to support the Work Club and ESOL education groups.  He has also worked with the health and school teams on a variety of projects.

When asked about joining Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Oliver said: “To be selected for this secondment is a great opportunity for me to further my career at Leeds Building Society but also help the Leeds Rhinos Foundation as a charity and the projects they run.

“Having graduated from Leeds University in Languages, the opportunity to help the ESOL group fits with my background and love for languages, so I fit right in to that group with enthusiasm. It shows that this secondment is beneficial not only professionally but personally as well.”

Dan Busfield, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s head of partnerships and development, said: “The secondment scheme with Leeds Building Society is a huge benefit for our charity and we are extremely grateful once again for their support.

“We are excited to have Oliver on board and he is already adding a great deal to the projects he is working on and we hope we are able to offer him some valuable experiences which will assist him in his own career development. We’ve had some great people come from Leeds Building Society as part of the secondment and hopefully it can continue in the future.”
