School Ambassadors Rugby League Coach Education Workshop Receives Rave Reviews

Leeds Rugby Foundation continued with their great work in the community as they held a School Ambassadors Rugby League Coach Education Workshop on Tuesday evening which was greatly received.

A total of 35 teachers from both Primary and Secondary Schools across Leeds attended a coaching workshop delivered by the highly qualified and experienced Leeds Rugby Foundation (LRF) staff.

As part of the LRF School Ambassador Scheme, the teachers took part in a highly interactive coach education workshop which will hopefully benefit the upcoming rugby league players in the local community.

Russell Parker, Leeds Rugby Foundation Ambassador Manager commented: “Many of the teachers who attended Tuesday’s event are the main deliverers of Rugby League in their school. It was therefore vitally important that we helped them as much as possible by passing on our knowledge and expertise.”

Ian Orum from Carr Manor Community College, was one of many who attended the event and he was hugely impressed with the Leeds Rugby Foundation coaching techniques :

“Leeds Rugby Foundation staff were superb. The way they coach the players, accelerating at the right pace as well as adding descriptive aspects on the touchline, with differentiation for the teachers, was great,” he revealed.

“The 45 minutes of coaching we received could be used at any age group. The players clearly progressed as independent learners during the event. I have coached for many years, but I must say I learnt new ideas and thoughts in that short time which I wil certainly implement in my lessons at school,” he continued.

“It really was a master-class in Rugby League coaching!”
