Run with the Rhinos runners line the streets of Leeds in Sunday’s Leeds 10K

Over 130 runners took part for Leeds Rugby Foundation

Leeds Rugby Foundation (LRF) would like to congratulate all runners who took part in the Leeds 10k on Sunday as part of the Run with the Rhinos team.

The streets of Leeds were scattered with the unique Run with the Rhinos shirts (pictured) in what was a hugely successful ASDA Foundation Leeds 10K which saw over 7,000 runners complete the race.

This year marked the 150th anniversary of rugby in Leeds and LRF had close to 150 runners who were all asked to raise a minimum of £150 – to be shared between the Leeds Rugby Foundation and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

There were some fantastic finishing times from Run with the Rhinos competitors this year, none-more-so than the Leeds Rhinos Strength and Conditioning Coach, Chris Black who completed the race in a time of 39 minutes 56 seconds, making him the fastest Run with the Rhino this year!

He was closely followed by Richard Barrett with 40 minutes 39 seconds and the Rhinos Physiotherapist Andy Barker on 41 minutes 21 seconds.

Leeds Rhinos legends Keith Senior crossed the line with his partner Emily in 57 minutes dead, whilst Barrie McDermott finished with a time of 53 minutes 08 seconds. Vice President Matthew Lewis completed the race in 1 hour 07 minutes. Thanks to all three runners who more importantly spread the name of Leeds Rugby Foundation!

Further down the field were some inspiring Run with the Rhinos runners including trio, Rob Rancatore, Darren McMahon and Lisa McMahon who ran in memory of Jason Goddard who sadly died of cancer last month.

On top of that, Graham Poulter, who suffers from depression, successfully completed the race in a time of 1 hour 14 minutes – well done Graham!

A special thanks must go to Lisa Carney who completed the race in a respectable time of 1 hour 14 minutes. More importantly she has raised over £700 for Leeds Rugby Foundation and Jane Tomlinson Appeal – well done Lisa!
