Rhinos pay tribute to staff at Aspire CBS

Rhinos stars Cameron Smith and Liam Sutcliffe attended the AGM for Aspire CBS recently to hand out awards to their staff.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation work in partnership with Aspire CBS, who are a social enterprise, to support over 200 people in Leeds with a learning disability and have provided rugby league and healthy eating sessions as part of the landmark partnership.

Chris Godfrey, disability coordinator at Leeds Rhinos Foundation, delivers the work in Aspire’s different centres across Leeds and attended the meeting along with the Rhinos players.

The event was kicked off with a performance by one of Aspire’s drama groups: The Ginger Cat Theatre Company and they did a live presentation about what the personal achievements they have made with the support of Aspire.

Following a video showing highlights of the year, there were the Aspire Staff Achievements & Recognition (STAR) Awards, which recognised members of staff who have excelled during the year.  Every member of staff was invited to nominate people in any or all of six categories: Newcomer of the Year, Learner of the Year, Unsung Hero, Colleague of the Year, Inspirational Person and Team of the Year.

A panel of front-line support workers shortlisted the nominations and the finalists were invited along to the AGM.  Smith and Sutcliffe were there to announce each of the winners and present them with their Award trophy, gift voucher and certificates.
