Record breaking Run with the Rhinos team raise over £11,000 for Foundation

There was a record turnout for the 2019 Run with the Rhinos team, and Leeds Rhinos Foundation is now delighted to reveal that they have raised more than £11,000 for our charity.

On Sunday 7th July, 167 supporters, staff and former players joined together to represent Leeds Rhinos Foundation in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k, including Rhinos legends Chev Walker and Jamie Peacock MBE, staff from partners Caddick Construction and Chadwick Lawrence and even participants from our Back Onside and Try Club projects.

Alongside completing the race, each runner or walker also helped to raise funds for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, supporting our many community-based projects which run across the city.

Chief Operating Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Bob Bowman said: “Ever since we started our Run with the Rhinos initiative, we’ve had one clear goal in mind- to inspire as many people as possible to help us keep making positive changes in the community by raising money for our charity.

“It was a truly incredible experience to run alongside the other members of our Run with the Rhinos team in 2019. I can’t thank them all enough for putting on their trainers, pounding the streets and raising valuable funds for our charity to be able to continue delivering the work that we do.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere all day, from seeing the incredible sea of blue and amber shirts in Dortmund Square in the morning to coming together post-race to celebrate our achievements in Banyan Bar, who we would also like to thank for kindly hosting us again.”

“We are witnessing some interesting times in our society at present so it is very gratifying to see such a large amount of people do their bit and raise the incredible sum of £11,000 for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, as we cannot operate without fundraising and support from the community.

“I’d like to once again thank everyone for their support on behalf of Leeds Rhinos Foundation and we hope to see even more people running with the Rhinos next year!”

A special mention to our top three fundraisers:

1st – Lee Whiteley
2nd – Ben Liggins
3rd – Chris Slade
