Oulton Raiders Rugby Festival

Another successful primary school festival was held yesterday at Oulton Raiders ARLFC in the finale to the 6 week programme in which each school received 4 weeks of coaching and a whole school assembly.

7 schools in total from the Rothwell and Oulton area of Leeds attended the festival, which included: Rothwell St Marys – Team A and Team B, Rothwell C of E, Woodlesford Team A and Team B, Shakespeare and Carlton primary school. Each team consisted of 10 players, 5 girls and 5 boys.

The festival was very competitive and was played in the glorious sunshine with all schools thoroughly enjoying themselves. After a great competition, Rothwell St Marys Team A were the eventual winners. Leeds Rhinos Primary School Development Officer Tony Aubrey commented, “This was a very pleasing outcome to the programme. The standard of competition was very high and the kids seemed to really enjoy themselves. They should be proud of their efforts. The event also created school club links with Oulton Raiders ARLFC to encourage the children to take up rugby league.”

Each school received a certificate for taking part and the winners, Rothwell St Marys Team A received a signed Leeds Rhinos ball from 1st team player Luke Ambler.
