The ever-popular two day Danny McGuire Rugby Skills Camp, supported by the Leeds Rugby Foundation, was enjoyed by over 80 children this week with many already looking forward to attending the Summer Rugby Camps in July and August.
The extremely successful two day Rugby Skills camp was held at Oulton Raiders ARLFC and a mass of children, both boys and girls, aged between 6 and 14 attended.
The children on the camp learnt lots of new skills and techniques to improve and enhance their rugby skills as well as getting the opportunity to meet Leeds Rhinos star and England International, Danny McGuire who passed on his knowledge and advice to the youngsters.
The experience the children gained was made extra special when Danny brought along fellow Leeds Rhinos and England Internationals’, Carl Ablett, Kallum Watkins and Ryan Hall to help coach, answer questions and sign memorabilia.
Leeds Rugby Foundation Development Officer, Tony Aubrey commented: “This camp was yet again a great success.
“The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and always had a smile on their face which was great to see despite the pouring rain on day two which made conditions tricky.
“It was particularly pleasing to gain some fantastic feedback from both the children and parents. I must thank all staff on camp who did a tremendous job organising and coaching throughout the two days.
“Finally, I would like to give a massive thank you to Oulton Raiders ARLFC for allowing us to use their fantastic facilities for the last couple of days.”
Danny McGuire will now take the camps to three other amateur clubs throughout the summer.
These camps are based at: Hunslet Warriors, North Leeds Leopards and Guiseley Rangers ARLFC.
Leeds Rugby Foundation Trustee, Jamie-Jones Buchanan, will also be holding his High Performance Rugby Camps over the coming months.
