Mathew Lewis Speaks Out Ahead Of Bupa Great North Run

Earlier in the week we revealed that Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis is to raise money for the charity he is Vice President of, Leeds Rugby Foundation, by taking part in the Great North Run.

And now, the man himself has spoken out ahead of the half marathon trip across Newcastle which he will hope to complete alongside Leeds Rhinos legend Barrie McDermott as well as Deputy Chairman of the Foundation, Bob Bowman.

Matt Lewis commented: “I really appreciate everyone who is supporting us whilst we take on this challenge.

“I have been training hard as I know what fantastic work Leeds Rugby Foundation does in the community and I am keen to raise as much money as possible to help them continue their great projects.

“Any support that you can give will help us to reach our fundraising target and keep us motivated for every step of the 13 miles. A huge thank you to everyone who donates!”

Fans can show their support for Matt Lewis and the rest of the Leeds Rugby Foundation team by visiting www.justgiving.com/GreatNorth13.

Lucy Owen, Chief Executive of Leeds Rugby Foundation id delighted that such a huge world renowned star is to represent Leeds Rugby Foundation. She said:

“We are delighted that Matt has chosen to take on this immense challenge to raise vital funds for Leeds Rugby Foundation.

“Matt is one of the charity’s Vice Presidents and does so much in that role to support the organisation, but this really is going above and beyond the call of duty!

“In taking part in the Great North Run, Matt is helping the Foundation to help even more people in our local community have access to life changing opportunities. All the money Matt raises will help us change even more lives through sport and we simply can’t thank him enough.

“Matt is a fantastic role model for young people today. He has already achieved amazing things in his career to-dae, but has never forgotten where he grew up and does whatever he can to help individuals from Leeds who need an extra helping hand to be the best that they can be.

“Leeds should be very proud of him, I know everyone at Leeds Rugby Foundation is.”
