LRF TV: Rugby League World Cup Festival A Great Success

Eleven Primary Schools from across the South Leeds area enjoyed a hugely successful Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) Festival at South Leeds Academy on Friday.

Below is a video of the day's events – enjoy!

Each Primary School was allocated a RLWC country and the children had produced a number of pieces of work surrounding their allocated country prior to the day.

A number of children had been learning the famous New Zealand Haka dance which they performed on the day, before the New Zealand Women arrived to show everyone how it was done.

There was a dancing performance from the Dazl dance team and the Rugby League World Cup was also present as the children enjoyed a unique chance to see the famous trophy face-to-face.

Both the World Cup Mascot, Grubber, and the local Police Mascot, Alfie, enjoyed the day as did former Aussie NRL star Corey Payne who was over in the UK researcing community work.

Moreover there was as a Tug-of-war as well as the Tag Rugby Tournament itself which was won by Clapgate A!

Thanks must go to both South Leeds Academy for hotsing the event and to the  Leeds City Council who helped organise the day as they continue to promote RLWC action in Leeds ahead of the upcoming competition later this year.
