Leeds Rhinos Club Ambassadors Scheme still looking to grow

Parties are suitable for players of all abilities to join in and have some fun

The Leeds Rhinos Club Ambassadors Scheme facilitated by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, is now in its 5th year and looking to bring more clubs into its burgeoning Rugby League network

The Scheme builds on engaging the community clubs of Leeds and District, empowering them to create community cohesion for the betterment of Rugby League. The Scheme meets monthly and 29 clubs are now signed up.

Engagement includes; coach education, rugby events, and match day experiences at Leeds Rhinos games, rewards to raise funds, cashback on season tickets, player appearances and support with regards to growing a player base at all age groups.

Although the ambassador scheme has empowered most Leeds clubs, which has been the backbone of the scheme for the last five years, it is still the ambition of the scheme to increase the assistance to more clubs. Recently the scheme recruited Dewsbury and Batley area clubs and they are enhancing the network within the scheme for the good of all involved.

The Leeds Rhinos foundation is very proud of the scheme and is this year offering a similar scheme to other areas of Yorkshire as well as country wide. Already signed up are clubs from Brentwood, Brotherton, Catterick, Buxton, Gateshead, New Earswick, Derbyshire Chargers with clubs throughout the country also showing an interest in scheme early in 2015.

The biggest highlight of the Club Ambassador Scheme is the flagship event; The Dick Gibson Club Ambassadors Festival of Rugby League. Over 700 players from the under 7’s to the under 11’s age groups took part in a festival of Rugby at the Leeds Rugby training ground, culminating in an excellent day, aided by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff and the clubs themselves. One of the outcomes is a total of £300 of much needed funds going back into each of the clubs.

Other events include the ‘Celebration of Rugby League Dinner’ now in its 7th year, which see all sectors of Rugby League come together to celebrate its achievements.

Also this year on offer is direct access to discounted tickets for member clubs to Magic Weekend, Wembley, Grand Final and the Internationals; another great benefit of being part of the scheme.

The Club Ambassadors Scheme will continue to be very much part of Rugby League going forward and in partnership, we will continue to grow the Scheme with the clubs valued assistance.

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation would like to thank all of the ambassador clubs for a great year in 2014 and is hoping for another very fruitful year in 2015.

There can be only one winner and that’s Rugby League!
