Leeds Rhinos and Jet2holidays camps fly high to new heights this year!

Leeds Rhinos Jet2holidays rugby camps have been a huge success this year over 700 children engaged in rugby league.

The camps are supported by Jet2holidays as well as Red Hot World Buffet and Bar and are ran by Leeds Rugby Foundation.

They form part of the rugby league development plan for Leeds sponsored by Mears which aims to engage as many youngsters as possible in the sport from the youngest of ages as well as giving them the opportunity to attend a Leeds Rhinos or Hunslet Hawks game.

This year, the Rhinos held camps at local amateur clubs; Hunslet Warriors, York Acorn, Catterick Crusaders, Birstall Victoria, Waterhead ARLFC, Dewsbury Celtic, Doncaster Toll Bar as well as activity camps at Garforth Academy and a transition camp at Guiseley High School.

As well as that, there was a camp at Stanningley, in partnership with the Princes Trust and it wasn’t just Leeds in which the Rhinos changed lives, as they held a camp in Paderborn Germany too with a camp for the children of the army.

The fun-packed 2 and 5 day courses for 6-14 year olds gave youngsters the chance to spend a week with Leeds Rhinos professional coaches, have the opportunity to meet Leeds Rhinos first team players and Ronnie the Rhino, receive a Leeds Rhinos camp T-shirt and water bottle. Attendees also get the chance to receive 20% off food at partners Red Hot World Buffet.

The children will now have the unique an opportunity to participate in a match day pitch parade at the Leeds Rhinos v St Helens match on Friday 29th August at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Participating children will get access to the game and their friends and family will get access to a special discount ticket rate.

Leeds Rugby Foundation General Manager Davide Longo commented on the success of the camps: “This year Leeds Rhinos camps have arguably been the best they have ever been. We have had a high number of attendees on each camp, in particular the camp at Waterhead ARLFC which saw close to 100 children attend.

“This year, for the first time, we held camps in new areas of Yorkshire as well as abroad. It is fantastic to give new youngsters the chance to be involved with the Rhinos.

"A big thanks must go to Jet2holidays for their support with our rugby camps this year as well as Red Hot World Buffet in Leeds. We are now planning to grow the camps even further next year with new venues and new activites a huge possibility.”
