Leeds Carnegie’s ‘Coach the Coaches’ programme.

Sir Ian McGeechan

Tonight will see the launch of the 2012/2013 season ‘Coach the Coaches’ programme.

The evening, to be held at Hull Ionians rugby club will commence with Sir Ian McGeechan conducting a presentation on the coaching process and how coaches can get their messages across to their players and also how a reinforcement of the basic skills needed for a player to perform to a high level is needed.

Following this presentation the Leeds Carnegie first team coaches, Diccon Edwards and Dave Baldwin assisted by community manager Adam Blades will then conduct some short skill based sessions using the Hull Ionians U15’s and U16’s squads as their players for the evening. Following this there will be chance for the attendees to pick the brains of the coaches and receive feedback on the sessions that have just been held.

Commenting on the evening Community Manager Adam Blades says, ‘Following last season’s rather successful ‘Coach the Coaches’ programme we are excited to commence this season programme and have placed a big emphasis on providing quality sessions and ones that attendees will go away hopefully picking up new skills and techniques that they can take back to their respective clubs. It is great that we have been able to confirm attendance of the Leeds Carnegie first team coaches and also use the vast amount of experience that Sir Ian has brought with him to the club and I’m sure the audience will appreciate the evening. This is the first of a number of events that we will be running this season with further venues and evenings being announced soon."
