Leeds Carnegie visit to York RUFC

Leeds Carnegie at York RUFC

The first of the Carnegie summer camps saw Adam Blades travel to York rugby club to deliver one of the 5 camps over the course of the summer. York RUFC was the host club this week.

The camp saw 30 children attend and experienced coaching throughout the 3 days looking at various aspects of the game with a big focus on enjoyment and fun in a safe learning environment.

The 3 days were a big success with a great response from the participants and parents. As part of attending the Carnegie camps the attendees are guaranteed 2 players to attend the camp and assist with the coaching but the children at the York were given a massive treat with the appearance of the whole first team squad and the new addition to the Leeds Carnegie club Sir Ian McGeechan.

The first team put on a real show in a hours long training session which was watched by the children over their dinner break and then the afternoon was spent by Carnegie first team players such as Craig Hampson, Jacob Rowan, Ben Hooper amongst the large group of players who volunteered to coach the children after their own physical training session.

The children were left amazed by the interaction they were able to have with the players and even had time at the end of the day to have a question and answer session with the Carnegie boys and of course a few photos and the chance to have their camp t-shirts signed.
