An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Improvement Officer to join Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
Based at Leeds Rugby Academy and reporting to the Partnership Manager the HIO will demonstrate a multi-agency approach to working with partners and internally to develop relationships in order to deliver health related activity and campaigns.
The HIO will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of specific health related initiatives which are either led by the foundation or are part of a wider partnership. This will include developing and implementing action plans in line with priorities and working closely with a range of agencies including; Schools, Public Health (Local Authority) and NHS.
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation Health Improvement Officer will utilise the engaging nature of Leeds Rhinos brand to improve health and reduce inequalities in communities across Leeds.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the development and implementation of health programmes and initiatives working in partnership with key organisations across Leeds. (E.g. Physical Activity Programme, Mental Fitness, Nutrition)
- Work with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Partnership Manager to identify foundation health priorities and develop long term action plans for implementation
- Work with partner organisations to ensure Leeds Rhinos Foundation are accessing information regarding ‘current’ health priorities across the City to inform Foundation plans and consider future funding opportunities.
- Work with key partners to develop communication strategies and campaigns including use of social media and Leeds Rhino Foundation website to promote all Leeds Rhinos Foundation health work and associated campaigns.
- Develop a relationship with Public Health Leeds and Clinical Commissioning Groups across the City to share good practice and develop work projects.
- Ensure all sessions are risk assessed and appropriate referral links developed for arising health related issues.
- Identify funding opportunities and work with colleagues to prepare and submit such bids.
- Link with Educational establishments to develop a Leeds Rhinos Foundation volunteer network which focuses on a range of health agendas.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to a range of organisations including voluntary sector, statutory bodies and businesses.
- Feedback to Leeds Rhinos Foundation trustees on a regular basis.
- Use our monitoring and evaluation system ‘Upshot’ to record all health activity in order for us to monitor ‘reach’ and ‘impact’
- Share good practice and models for health improvement with other colleagues and agencies.
The role is a full time position and you will need to be flexible, as you will be required to work on evenings, weekends and match days.
The salary will be circa £22-£25,000 per annum, but this will be dependent on skills and qualifications. This is a fixed term contract for 12 months to start with and it will be reviewed annually.
