Leeds Rugby Foundation is Leeds Rugby’s official charity. We work in the heart of the community harnessing the power of sport to make a lasting and positive impact on individuals’ lives.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Learning Officer to join this new team and be responsible for hands on delivery of this new project. The post provides the successful candidate with the freedom to help shape how this project develops from the very beginning.

The Learning Officer will plan and manage the delivery of sessions to distinct groups of learners who will attend and make use of the facilities available via two professional rugby teams of Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie.
The candidate will be able to inspire learners from a variety of backgrounds to achieve and make positive changes to their lives. They will have the ability to use creative, innovative strategies with learners, but be able to balance thinking outside the box, with effective time manangement and an ability to meet objectives.

Your work will run alongside and complement the ‘Tryzone’ project, which was launched this year. This project supports younger pupils and learners with their families and makes use of Leeds Rugby Foundation’s expertise and resources, together with the skills of partners.

This project is a blank canvas for a passionate, enthusiastic and adaptable individual with a proven track record of planning, delivering and running learning programmes to make their mark on this project and help achieve better outcomes for targeted learners.

JOB PURPOSE:

To design resources for, and deliver innovative sessions to small groups of adults within a classroom setting, based mainly at the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
You will lead on the delivery of the Adult learning project and may be asked to deliver some accredited learning. You will have the ability to teach in a group setting, on a one to one basis and support adults who have a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have the skills to work alongside challenging cohorts of learners who can have complex issues creating barriers to learning. You will also have a flexible and friendly approach to teaching. In addition to key educational outcomes you will work with the students to help them develop their soft skills, coping mechanisms, confidence and ability to communicate effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• You will support learners with their learning needs and liaise with the programme manager, colleagues within Leeds Rugby Foundation and Leeds Rugby, multi-agencies and other external partners.

FOR FOUNDATION PROJECT DEVELOPMENT

• To familiarise yourself with developments in, awarding bodies and related quality assurance demands
• Play a key role in contributing to the continual improvement of the service’s quality assurance performance
• Ensure lesson planning, marking, ILPs, reviews, resources are up to date and of a high standard
• Attend and contribute to all relevant meetings both internally and externally

FOR RESOURCES

• To be responsible for any equipment/resources linked to this role
• To develop off the shelf resources to support delivery of learning outcomes to students, to include 1:1 and group work.
• To contribute to reports, Self-Assessment Reports, Business Plans

FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY

• To promote, monitor and maintain health safety and security in the working environment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• This is not a 9-5 position. The project may include delivery in evening and at weekends; Flexible working is essential.
• The role will attract a salary of £10,175 per annum
• The hours will be 18.5 per week
