Full lineup of legends for Run with the Rhinos revealed

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is delighted to reveal the full line up of Leeds Rhinos legends who have confirmed they will be taking part in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k as part of the Run with the Rhinos team on Sunday 5th July 2020.

An array of former players have already signed up to Run with the Rhinos this summer, including race veterans Kevin Sinfield MBE, Jamie Peacock MBE and Barrie McDermott.

They will be joined by fellow legends Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Brett Delaney, Keith Senior, Lee Smith and Ryan Bailey, who will all be pulling on a Run with the Rhinos jersey for the first time.

The eight will take on the run alongside Rhinos staff, supporters and sponsors as they help to raise money for Leeds Rhinos Foundation and the Rob Burrow Fund, which was set up to support their former teammate following his recent diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease.

For Jones-Buchanan, who is a Trustee of Leeds Rhinos Foundation, the opportunity to sign up and support two causes close to his heart had great significance.

“One of the biggest challenges of not playing is staying fit and healthy, which is strange because I never thought I’d have to deal with that challenge as I’ve always loved training.

“To keep up that motivation it will be great to do some running, and obviously I’m proud to be representing the club and raising money for some fantastic causes. It’s a big year of events both with and for Rob, so there’s plenty of personal reasons for me to take up the challenge.

Last year saw 167 runners and walkers take on the Leeds 10k in the Rhinos team, and Jones-Buchanan is hoping to see even more people get involved this time around.

“The best thing about running is its really simple. You can do it on your own, you can do it with friends or family and it’s a fantastic way for anyone to keep active.

“As simple as it may sound, for me the best mode of fitness is running. I think the wellbeing and fitness benefits are really positive and events like this can only serve to guide and encourage people to get involved.”

Run with the Rhinos is a great idea for anyone looking to set themselves a challenge in 2020, whilst also raising vital funds for two fantastic causes.

Other benefits of being a Run with the Rhinos team member include:

• Run with the Rhinos race top to wear on the day
• Pre-race get together, to include nutritional advice and race tips from Leeds Rhinos experts – Date TBC
• Great fundraising incentives
• Exclusive post-race event invite

Entry is £27 and there is a minimum fundraising amount of £50 per person.

As in previous years, there will also be the option to walk the 10k course with us. So even if running isn’t for you, there is still chance to get involved by joining our 2020 Walking Team!
