Foundation team up with partners to host historic Tag Rugby festival at Emerald Headingley

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is gearing up to support partners Chadwick Lawrence Solicitors and Aspire Community Benefit Society in a historic new event – an Aspire Tag Rugby Festival!

The festival will take place at Emerald Headingley Stadium on Wednesday 17th July 2019, from 10am-12.30pm, and will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved to showcase their developing skills and fitness in a fun and inclusive mixed ability Tag Rugby tournament.

Providing care and support services to adults with learning disabilities, Aspire Community Benefit Society is a staff-owned, not-for-profit social enterprise with a charitable status, who have previously delivered coaching sessions to groups in geographical areas and have now helped to organise a ground-breaking Tag Rugby Festival at the iconic home of eight times Super League champions Leeds Rhinos.

The festival will consist of eight teams of 10 players each, for seven-a-side matches, with both mixed gender and mixed ability sides including numerous staff members from Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Chadwick Lawrence.

The day will include activities for all, medals for the players and the presentation of the Chadwick Lawrence Cup to the winning team. Many of the Chadwick Lawrence team have volunteered to come along on the day in order to support the event and the teams. With chair-based exercises, refreshments, smoothie bikes and Ronnie Rhino set to make an appearance, there’s plenty for spectators to get involved with as they cheer on their team!

Sam Pawson, of Chadwick Lawrence, said: “We are delighted to support Aspire and Leeds Rhinos Foundation in what should be a fun and exciting day for both participants and spectators.

“As a firm we support many community initiatives as well as our current support of Leeds Rhinos, and we welcome the additional support of Leeds-based marketing agency Fantastic Media and the UK’s leading sports nutrition brand, Maximuscle”.

Carol Benson, Marketing and Communications Manager at Aspire Community Benefit Society, further commented: “Our partnership with Leeds Rhinos Foundation has gone from strength to strength. Over the past 18 months, hundreds of customers have engaged with staff from Leeds Rhinos Foundation in professional coaching sessions to work on basic rugby and movement skills and healthy living sessions, exploring topics such as healthy eating, staying active and making positive diet choices.

“This marquee event at Emerald Headingley allows us to continue this great work and provide further benefits to our customers”.
