Foundation team travel to Whitehaven

Leeds Rugby Foundation is on the road for their annual trip to Whitehaven. An early 5am start saw them head for Cumbria in time for their first school assembly at nine.

During the visit, the Foundation will be attending schools and putting on their renowned ‘winning teams’ assembly and also visiting some of the famous community clubs in the area where they will be undertaking coaching master classes along with some of the coaches from the Whitehaven club.

For the first part of the week Sian Hills, Leon Crick and Mark Shutt will be travelling up and Starr Zaman the following day, with Jonny Wainhouse and Sam Horner taking over for the weekend shift.

The trip wouldn't be complete without the Leeds Rhinos mascot, Ronnie Rhino, who will also be accompanying the team and will be entertaining all and sundry along the way and in various functions there.

The week will culminate in a huge coaching session in which the Leeds Rhinos 1st team will be coaching all the children that the Foundation team  have coached or have entertained them with an assembly.

Then after the coaching session the Leeds Rhinos will be taking on the Whitehaven team in a pre-season friendly which will hopefully be cheared on by a crowd of over 2,000.
