Culley Sevens Tournament

Culley Sevens Tournament

16 primary school teams took part in this year’s Culley Sevens Tournament organised by Leeds and Hunslet Schools RL and Leeds Rugby Foundation.

The event, which took place at Stanningley ARLFC, was a great success, giving primary school pupils from across Leeds the chance to show their skill and enthusiasm for the game. Exciting attack and ferocious defence were on display throughout the afternoon with players from all teams catching the eye of guest of honour, Rhinos own Ian Kirke.

Many of the games were very closely contested, none more than the final which saw Adel and Alwoodley level at fulltime. Even extra time couldn’t separate the teams who will share the trophy for the year.

Trophies and medals were presented to the winning teams by  Ian Kirke and Martin Culley, the great grandson of John Culley, after whom the trophy is named.
