Leeds Rhinos Foundation teamed up with Hunslet Club Parkside and East Leeds ARLFC to host their first two rugby league taster sessions of the year, as part of their continued efforts to introduce more junior players to the sport through their successful Sky Try programme.
The initiative involves Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff working in primary schools across Leeds, offering fun and enjoyable coaching sessions to children in years one and two, with the ambition to promote lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity whilst getting them enthused about playing Rugby League.
Following the coaching in schools, the charity then works with local community clubs to provide a pathway for the children to continue playing in a community club setting and last week a total of 45 brand new players attended the taster sessions with Hunslet Club Parkside and East Leeds.
The free sessions were led by the Foundation’s Rugby League Development Officers Joe Sanderson and Sam Horner, giving the children a chance to learn some basic rugby skills and experience playing as part of a team through a series of fun games and coaching drills.

Throughout the course of the year, Leeds Rhinos Foundation will be working with our Ambassador clubs right across the city of Leeds to deliver Sky Try taster sessions and support the recruitment drive for their various junior teams, whilst helping to inspire the next generation of rugby league players.

All sessions are completely FREE to attend and there is no need to book in advance, just turn up on the day and join in the fun!
