Community clubs earn cash back through their own hard work

Last night at the monthly Club Ambassadors meeting saw the hand-over over a total of £1,955 to 17 community clubs from across the Leeds and district are as part of the cash-back from the annual Ambassador Festival of junior and masters Rugby League, sponsored by the family of Dick Gibson.

August was the Ambassador Festival’s third year of being active and was run at Leeds Rhinos training facilities, by the community club’s themselves and a share was distributed between the 17 clubs. This year, the event was kindly sponsored by the family of Dick Gibson, who was, for many years, an active stalwart of Rugby League in Leeds.

The Ambassador Scheme requires community clubs to actively promote the cash back scheme, maintain a register of all Leeds Rhinos season ticket holders at their club, promote Rhinos group trips and marquee games as well as attending the monthly Ambassador Meetings as they have done in previous years.

In response of that, each club who fill their requirements currently receive the following benefits:

• One Season Ticket per Ambassador club
• Club Cash Back (15% for new renewals, 5% for renewals – season tickets only)
• Half-time team participation
• Special Group offers
• Table for 10 Bronze Hospitality at a selected Rhinos game
• Signed Leeds Rhinos shirt or 4 complimentary tickets to a match for fundraising purposes
• Participation in Ambassador Festival
• Participation in Children’s Day
• Ronnie the Rhino and Leeds Rhinos players visit to club

Sam Horner, Leeds Rugby Foundation Community Club Development Officer commented:

“This demonstrates social cohesion within the community game and the power that can be generated when all the community clubs work together to create such a fantastic event such as the Ambassador Festival and the scheme as a whole.

“There are now 24 clubs actively signed up to the Ambassador Scheme which goes from strength to strength each year.”
