Children enjoy fun week of multi-sports activities on Foundation’s half term camp at St Mary’s Menston

During the recent half term break, Leeds Rhinos Foundation provided holiday provision with a four-day multi-sports camps held at St Mary’s Menston Catholic Voluntary Academy.

The camp was once again very well received and attended by more 40 children from across North West Leeds, who were able to keep active and enjoy a fun week packed full of different sports-based games and activities at a discounted price thanks to the support of the Outer North West Community Committee.

With the sun shining, attendees were able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air as they developed new skills by participating in sports such as footgolf, cricket and rounders, as well as dodgeball, benchball and the infamous ‘Rhinos Slide’ challenge in the indoor sports hall. Once again, each session carefully followed the latest government guidelines and procedures were put in place to ensure the safety of both children and staff at all times.

Matt Airey, Camp Lead and Partner Schools Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, said: “We had a fantastic week on our multi-sports camp and we’re so grateful to St Mary’s Menston for hosting us.”

“The weather was beautiful which helped us get outside and give the kids a real good run-around, but they all tried so hard and because they’ve maybe not had the chance to go out as much recently due to the current climate it provides a good social occasion for them to meet new friends and make the most of their half term holidays.

“I can safely say that getting back into the camps and coaching the kids has been great. It’s something we really enjoy doing and seeing all the kids with smiles on their faces this week make it all worthwhile.”
