Students and staff from Brigshaw High School switched school uniforms for the shirts of their Super League heroes in October to raise £488 for local organisations Leeds Rhinos Foundation and the Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract

The high school, based in East Leeds, got into the Grand Final spirit in the build up to the game at Old Trafford on 7th October by giving students the opportunity to donate £1 for the chance to wear non-uniform and supporters of Leeds Rhinos and opponents Castleford Tigers to sport their club colours for the day.

The school raised £488 for both Leeds Rhinos Foundation and the Prince of Wales Hospice in Ponterfract and which was officially donated by students and staff from the school with a cheque presentation this week.

Chief Operating Officer at Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Bob Bowman said:

"We are enormously grateful to the students and staff at Brigshaw High School for raising £488 for Leeds Rhinos Foundation through their non-uniform day.

"The money will help support some of our community-based projects in the city as well as our Rugby League Development Plan for developing rugby in high schools, where we have enjoyed a long standing relationship with Brigshaw with dedicated members of our staff working with the very successful rugby league programmes at the school."
