Yorkshire Bank volunteers provided a ‘helping hand’ to the Leeds Rugby Foundation

Last week the Leeds Rugby Foundation Tryzone Centre were lucky enough to have 19 volunteers from Yorkshire Bank rolling up their sleeves and decorating their classrooms

The Community Team at Yorkshire Bank were keen to provide some hands on support to the recently launched Tryzone based at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

In addition to supporting Childrens Day, they are now extending their help to Tryzone, supporting a refurbishment, donating furniture and staff volunteering on education projects.

Tryzone is the beginning of an exciting three year programme of education projects with young people and families from all over Leeds. TryZone is funded by the Big Lottery and will initally work with young people between the ages of 10-13 years who need some extra support and their families to make a positive difference to their lives.

The pilot term will run until the summer, followed by a range of courses and projects over the next three years. Nigel, Janet and Kathryn from the Rugby Foundation Team, plus an amazing range of partners, guest speakers, coaches and deliverers will be working with pupils and families from 8 schools on three evenings each week.

In addition to learning new skills, participating in sport, completing challenges and meeting many inspirational people, pupils will be involved in the development and design of the centre activity rooms, designing a logo and producing promotional material for the TryZone. Pupils also have the opportunity to become a Junior Trustee for the Foundation.
