Tea and Talk dates now available for new Active Beyond Cancer programme

The Active Beyond Cancer programme, run in partnership with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Yorkshire Cancer Research, will begin again in February for men and women affected by cancer.

The free rehabilitation programme offers health sessions in a range of locations across Leeds and is available to people at any stage of their cancer treatment. The course aims to aid participants by increasing fitness levels, improving their quality of life and building confidence.

Amy Livingstone, Health Improvement Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, commented, “We’re really looking forward to the delivery of our dates for our successful Active Beyond Cancer programme.

“Each week we’ll look at a different element of nutrition through interactive educational sessions. This is then followed by a taster session of different, tailored physical activities each week delivered by our Level 4 qualified exercise professionals, which are aimed at helping you build confidence, achieve your goals and find an activity you really enjoy!”

People interested in joining the course are invited to attend one of the upcoming Tea and Talk events to find out more about what is involved and chat with the staff from Leeds Rhinos Foundation who will be leading the course.

Following consultations, the free 12-week Active Beyond Cancer courses will begin at the start of September and will run at three venues across Leeds. The sessions not only include physical exercise but also offer help and advice to attendees to create positive wellbeing.

“Our Tea and Talk information sessions are a perfect opportunity for you to come along, find out more, ask any questions and get answers to any concerns to decide whether the programme is suited to you,” explained Livingstone.

“There will also be an opportunity to arrange to have a one-to-one consultation with our staff before the programme begins, just for us to get to know you a bit more and work out how to tailor the programme to help you get the most out of it.”
