Leeds Rhinos stars Tom Briscoe, Jack Walker and Harry Newman will be on hand to welcome over 160 junior teams to Butlin’s Skegness this weekend as the UK’s biggest junior rugby league festival finally makes it’s return after three years away.
Rhinos Challenge kicks off on Friday 13th May and will give over 6,000 people from 50 different community clubs the chance to experience a Rugby League tour like no other, with teams from all across the North of England coming together to put on an incredible showcase of junior rugby league with Leeds Rhinos Foundation and ESF Events.
As part of the Rhinos Challenge experience, all teams are accommodated at the award-winning Butlin’s resort in Skegness offering the perfect base for a unique tour experience and unforgettable memories for players and their families.
Once again the event will receive support from Leeds Rhinos first team squad with Briscoe, Walker and Newman visiting the two-day event to meet the young players and hopefully inspire the next generation of Super League stars at the iconic tournament, which aims to benefit the development of junior rugby.
They will be joined by a trio of Leeds Rhinos Women stars, with Alex Barnes, Keara Bennett and Shannon Lacey working alongside the Foundation to offer their support for the festival and meet some of the budding female players taking part.
Attendees will also have the chance to add to their photo galleries and take home a real memento by getting a picture with the Super League and Rugby League World Cup trophies, which will be making an appearance on-site and featuring at some of the showstopping presentations which round off the weekend’s action on Sunday.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s support of Rhinos Challenge is part of the charity’s Rugby League Development Plan sponsored by Mears, which aims to increase participation and improve standards throughout the game.
Rhinos Challenge which was first launched in 2012 and has sold out for each of the last eight times it has been held, peaking in 2019 prior to the coronavirus pandemic with over 170 teams attending the festival.
