Sports Awards were officially launched

The 2019 Leeds Sports Awards were officially launched at the Leeds United vs Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Organisers and sponsors were joined on the pitch at half time with some of the city’s most successful athletes including Josh Warrington, Jack Laugher MBE, Lois Toulson, Dan Goodfellow and Hannah Cockroft MBE.

The 16th Leeds Sports Awards will once again take place at first direct Arena on Thursday 28th February 2019, the third year the venue has staged the ceremony. Over 800 guests will be expected to attend.
 
The awards celebrate the achievements and contributions across the city, including grass roots, professional clubs and athletes, right through to coaches, administrators and volunteers.
 
Sport Leeds are excited to announce that this year the award will be supported by many key sponsors including, LeedsBID, Leeds City Council , Leeds Cares, Ringways Motor Group and Motability. 
 
Peter Smith, Chair of Sport Leeds, said: “2018 has been a great year of sport so far with many successes at world, Commonwealth, international and national levels.

"The awards will provide the city with the opportunity to reflect on the year and celebrate it’s many achievements. It’s certainly a date on the Leeds sporting calendar which cannot be missed.”

Paralympic champion, Hannah Cockroft MBE also commented “It’s a massive privilege to be involved in the 2019 launch of the Leeds Sports awards. With so much talent in the city, it’s always a brilliant night of celebration and recognition and I’m looking forward to the event in February already!”
