Leeds Rhinos Foundation is aiming for the biggest ever turnout for the Run with the Rhinos team in the Run for All Leeds 10K on Sunday 3rd July, 2022.
This year the charity will be taking inspiration from the club’s legendary number seven, Rob Burrow MBE, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2019, and a target has been set to have a team of 777 people.
This annual run is the flagship fundraising event to support Leeds Rhinos Foundation and its work to support adults and children throughout the Leeds community. Participants this year will also be supporting the Leeds Hospital Charity’s appeal for The Rob Burrow Centre for MND.
Bob Bowman, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s CEO, said: “Run with the Rhinos is always one of our favourite events as it brings together all sections of our charity including trustees, staff, our supporters as well as the people who benefit from our projects.
“Not only is our charity committed to supporting the development of the game with our work in schools and clubs but the scope of our delivery now reaches much further, with some life changing projects across our community. The In Touch support group helps those living with dementia and the Offload mental fitness project is having a huge impact.
“The Try Club weight management course is helping hundreds of people kick start and maintain healthier lifestyles and the ground-breaking Tackle It programme continues to provide support for survivors of domestic abuse alongside education courses to help lower re-offending rates. We are also now proud to be running Leeds Rhinos Learning Disability, Physical Disability and Wheelchair teams and money raised will mean we can continue to support them and help people live out their sporting dreams.
“This year we will be also be fundraising for the Rob Burrow Centre for MND. Rob is an inspiration to us all and if we could get a record number of people taking part – whether that’s running or walking the route – it would be incredible. It was recently announced that the first ever Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon would be taking place in 2023 and the 10k could be the perfect way to start training for that big event next year and we are committed to supporting those who are looking to get marathon ready!”
