Second Rhinos Challenge 2020 festival launched

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is delighted to announce that following unprecedented demand for the 2020 Rhinos Challenge, we will now be running a second festival in September.

Having sold out the May 2020 festival within one week of its launch, the huge demand has led to Bultins Skegness and ESF Events agreeing to let us take over the entire resort for a second weekend for the first time ever, from the 4th- 7th September 2020.

The festival is open to all teams in the Under 7s-Under 14s age groups, as well as Under 12s and Under 14s Girls sides, providing more clubs from across the country with the opportunity to come and experience the thrill of the UK’s biggest rugby league festival. Last year, 1,700 junior players from 169 community rugby league teams competed in 616 matches across nine age-groups throughout the weekend.

Gareth Cook, Head of Community and Engagement for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, said: “We are absolutely delighted to offer a second Rhinos Challenge for 2020. The demand to host another event is the highest it has ever been due to the popularity of the first weekend, which sold out in record time, and uptake over the last few years which has made this event a spectacular showcase of junior rugby league.

“Rhinos Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for junior teams to go on tour and combine the event with a family break; it’s an experience like no other and creates memories that last a lifetime.

“Our relationship with ESF is one we’re very proud of, and we’re delighted that they are a key partner of our charity, helping us to put on these unforgettable weekends. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work carried out by founder Leon Crick and I hope that myself and Ian Hardman can emulate the success in 2020 and beyond.”

Going on tour provides a rare and exciting opportunity for your players, coaches and supporters to build team spirit and morale. Our goal at the Rhinos Challenge is simple – to provide a positive, exciting Rugby League experience for everyone involved, one that the children will remember with their families and friends for years to come.

First team players from Leeds Rhinos will once again be in attendance, taking the time to come meet the players, sign autographs and present awards during the awe-inspiring Rhinos Challenge presentation ceremonies.
