RYAN HALL HELPS OUT HIS LOCAL COMMUNITY

Ryan Hall is took time out of his preparation for the World Club Challenge to support the community he was brought up in.

The Leeds Rugby Foundation have linked up with Rothwell Councillor Stewart Golton. One of the council estates in his area, John O'Gaunts (JOG), has general issues surrounding challenging behaviour of some local youngsters. An event was created where the local community, the Leeds Rugby Foundation and Ryan Hall are coming together to improve the estate.

The day consisted of:
• The Community Allotment site has a polytunnel that has been damaged in the recent winds.
• There was an opportunity to plant up a couple of beds and a planter or two on the estate.
• There is an edible garden scheme where local households are encouraged to plant fruit trees/shrubs/herbs that are provided free to have healthy food on hand. Volunteers will help to plant the trees etc

As well as all this, the Friends of Rothwell Country Park hosted a consultation event on the installation of a Trim Trail and a Green Gym on the Park this year. It is hoped that a lot of the energy that local youngsters sometimes project into trashing things can be diverted into healthy activities on the Park that is just behind the estate. The consultation will be in the Rose Lund Centre in the centre of the estate, there will be some equipment there for demonstration and photo opportunity.
